Bio[]
Bards are intelligent, feathered Monsters with a legendary talent for music. They are unique among all magic-wielding beings in that they use melodies and songs to cast spells. Humans have been trying to replicate this feat by composing ever more beautiful and intricate pieces of music, but to no avail - nothing compares to a Bard's performance. A soothing melody can cure grievous maladies, a mocking chant can cut deeper than any blade, and an epic ballad may transport its listeners to distant places.
History[]
In the centuries of the Old World, Bards are known by many different names, among them: skalds, minnesaengers, biwa hoshis. No matter which name they went by, they left a lasting impression on the differernt cultures of the Old World. In some cultures, Bards are even seen as the origin of human musicians. Supposedly, Bards taught early humans singing, songwriting, and the crafting and playing of musical instruments. As human kingdoms arose, there were some kings who attempted to put Bards in chains, as they otherwise refused to stay in one place. This would only have catastrophic consequences, as a Bard's voice is a fearsome instrument when enraged.
Acquisition[]
Bard cannot be encountered in the wild. A Bard egg is given by the Wanderer once the player defeats him in a Keeper Duel in the Forgotten World. Click here for more details!
When you follow the Bard into the Forgotten World, keep following it until you reach a room with a person frozen in ice. To break the ice spell, you need to collect three Celestial Feathers found throughout the Forgotten World. Once you have gathered the feathers, go back to the icy room. Together with Bard's magic, the Celestial Feathers will free the Wanderer from his ice prison. The Wanderer recognizes your Familiar and will test your skills in a Keeper Duel. Defeat him, and he will give you a Bard egg.
It can also be obtained from Reward Box X.

Trivia[]
- Bard has the most exclusive skills, with five, those being Minnesang, Aegis Chord, Patron Chord, Power Chord, and Support Chord.
- It is possible to obtain Bard without battling the Wanderer. This can be done by obtaining its egg from Reward Box X (six-star reward against Terradrile Champion).
- This means you can "complete" the Forgotten World without freeing the Wanderer; however, the method above doesn't work if you already have a Bard in a New Game+ file.
- You can, however, initiate the battle with the Wanderer first and then forfeit. This allows you to use the Minnesang Explore Ability but still have the Wanderer frozen in the ice.
- This means you can "complete" the Forgotten World without freeing the Wanderer; however, the method above doesn't work if you already have a Bard in a New Game+ file.
- Bard is the only non-Spectral Familiar Monster that cannot appear in the wild when Randomizer is turned on.
- Bard's name and design are based on a bard, a professional story teller, verse-maker, music composer, oral historian and genealogist.
- It is also based on the bard character class from the fantasy role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons.
- Its design is also a play on the word bird.
