The Blue Caves is a vast network of underground caves with waterways and obstacles barring progress. The moss covered rock walls and waterlogged tunnels are home to numerous Monsters. This is also where the player obtains the Double Jump Boots.
It stretches below and is connected to the Mountain Path and the Keepers' Stronghold; there are connections to the Stronghold Dungeon in the east, the Sun Palace in the west, and the Underworld at its deepest point.
Storyline[]
Upon entering the Blue Caves, you are met by Will. He mentions the rumors about the increased amount of Champion Monsters that have been spotted as of late. He suggests trying to hunt one down. He is interested in the cause of this rise in Champion Monsters and thinks hunting them will help him uncover the truth.
You learn that there are four Spectral Keepers - the player, Will, Leonard, and Julia. You and Will are both new at this, but Leonard is older and has some experience. Julia started out much younger than both you and Will, so she is more experienced, as well. They both have obtained the rank of Keeper Lancer while you two are just Keeper Aspirants. Will gives you a copy of the Monster Journal.
Leonard interrupts your chat to proclaim that he's the best and you and Will are too inexperienced and shouldn't go in there. Will takes this as a challenge and rushes off. Leonard calls him a fool and chases after. Your Spectral Familiar then suggests helping Will, and hopes you will knock Leonard down a peg by passing his rank, someday.
Later, you encounter Leonard again, who defeats a Blob - a Monster not found in this area - to show off his prowess.
Further in, you encounter an Alchemist for the first time. He mentions it might be dangerous for you to continue on, then laughs and leaves you alone. Your Familiar suggests it might be worth investigating who that man was. Just ahead, you find Will and the Minitaur Champion. Will decides to stay back and let you handle the Monster.
After defeating the Minitaur, Leonard shows up and asks about it. He doesn't believe that you defeated the Champion and goes searching to try and find it. Will asks you to meet him in the Library at the Keepers' Stronghold later to see what he can find out about the masked man.
In the very depths of this area lies a door that leads to Underworld. Upon collecting four of the Sanctuary Tokens, Eric challenges you to a Keeper Duel before giving you the fifth and final Sanctuary Token to open the door.
