The Dragon Empress's Story[]

The story of how the Dragon Empress grew up at a small farmstead with a Draconov as her pet can be read in the history segments of Draconov and Dracogran while the history segment of Draconoir describes the Dragon Empress's sudden disappearance.

After the host of Dracograns appeared to rescue the Empress, she was crowned the rightful queen of the kingdom. Of course, the usurper got what he deserved and the Empress's loyal Draconov was freed from its cage.

However, that was only the beginning of her conquest - for the Dracograns apparently had no intention of leaving. From one day to another, the Empress was crowned queen and she now had a host of Dracograns at her command, which was completely unprecedented in itself. She conquered more than half of the Old World, spreading her influence across every continent. That's how her story became known in every corner of the world.

However, there are some curious details about her story. We know for a fact that she had Dracograns at her command and that she used them to conquer many countries - the burned ruins of castles all over the Old World make it undeniable. Still, one has to keep in mind that the Dragon Empress's story is a thing of antiquity, as it happened thousands of years ago.

Perhaps the biggest inconsistency of the story is that the Dragon Empress's country never had a special connection to dragons before her rise to fame. The people accepted her as a member of the regal bloodline based on her power to control dragons, even though there was never any king or queen before her who had that power. There is nothing else to prove that she was the long-lost daughter of the deceased king and queen.

Also, there are several historical accounts that never mention that the queen (allegedly, mother to the Dragon Empress) was ever pregnant. In fact, one account states that she was barren.

So, it seems likely that the Dragon Empress was actually just a farmer's daughter. Through unknown means, she gained control of a host of Dracograns, but to finally stabilize the realm again after the usurper's bloody coup, a legitimate successor was needed. So a story was forged about how she was a long-lost princess who nobody had known about.

Still, it doesn't explain how the Dragon Empress had control over the Dracograns. Possibly, it had something to do with the bond that she had with her Draconov. The mysterious character that gave her the Draconov egg has been speculated to be a powerful wizard or even some sort of deity that had taken on a human disguise. This theory is based on the circumstance that the Dragon Empress was apparently the first human in history to have the ability to control and command Monsters. Yet, shortly after the Dragon Empress's rise to power, other humans around the world found ways to tame Monsters as well, including the Dragon Empress's own Dragoons that rode to battle on the back of dragons that they had bonded with. Although it seems far likelier that the story of the Dragon Empress's rise to power simply caused a cultural change across the world, inspiring others to attempt to tame Monsters, the idea that a god-like being instilled a Draconov egg with a spark that would change all of humanity has an alluringly poetic notion to it.
