Monster eggs can be hatched to obtain the corresponding Monsters. Newly hatched Monsters will always have a Wooden Stick equipped, and their level is dependent on the player's highest level Monster. Eggs cannot be sold but can be donated to the Monster Army.
Monster eggs can be obtained from wild Monster drops at the end of a battle as a possible rare reward, Reward Boxes or certain story events. If the player has not obtained a certain Monster before, the rare reward is more likely to be the Monster's egg. Evolved Monsters (except King Blob in Randomizer) do not drop their eggs but instead drop their pre-evolved form's eggs. Champion Monsters can only drop their eggs once as a 5-star reward or their pre-evolved form's eggs as a 3-star reward. Monster eggs are carried over when playing New Game+ (unless Bravery is turned on) and can be hatched anytime. However, they cannot be donated to the Monster Army until you encounter one of its species.
Level of Hatched Monsters[]
- If the highest level Monster is level 1-3, hatched Monsters will be the same level.
- If the highest level Monster is level 4-11, hatched Monsters will be 1 level lower.
- If the highest level Monster is level 12-32, hatched Monsters will be 2 levels lower.
- If the highest level Monster is level 33 or higher, hatched Monsters will be 3 levels lower.
Shifted Eggs[]
Once Shifting is unlocked, Shifted Monster eggs can be obtained if one of the wild Monster is Shifted. The Shift of the Monster egg follows the wild Monster's Shift, e.g. if the Monster is Light-shifted, then the egg will also be Light-shifted. Getting a 5-star rating guarantees the player getting the Shifted Monster egg. Eggs obtained from Reward Boxes also have a 50% chance to be Shifted.
Egg Cost[]
Plague Egg is the only Monster whose egg can be purchased (named as "??? Egg") under normal circumstances. In Randomizer, Rhazes sells the egg of the Monster that swapped with Plague Egg, whereas the Consumable Merchant in the Keepers' Stronghold sells the eggs of the Monsters that swapped with Ninki and Sizzle Knight. Eggs sold in Randomizer can be bought for an infinite amount of times. Evolved Monsters have the same egg cost as their pre-evolved form (except Fumagus, for unknown reason).
* While the Spectral Familiars and Bard have internal egg cost, their eggs cannot be bought from anywhere.
Bravery[]
The Bravery game mode restricts the number of Monster eggs the player can obtain. Monsters and Reward Boxes no longer drop Monster eggs, and playing New Game+ with Bravery will also remove any eggs in the player's inventory. Instead, Monster eggs can only be obtained from the Monster Army, certain story events, and Monster chests, which are special white chests exclusive to Bravery. The eggs can also be Shifted if the eggs are obtained after completing the story segments at Sun Palace but it is predetermined by the game seed.
