In the game, every Monster has the ability to shift into either Light or Dark forms after the player completes the story segments at the Sun Palace. This transformation not only changes the Monster's color but also unlocks several benefits. To shift a Monster, players need a Shift Stone, allowing them to choose between the Monster's Light and Dark Shifts. Additionally, a Switch Stone can be used to swap between the two forms for an already-shifted Monster. If the player wishes to revert a Shifted Monster to its neutral form, a Clear Stone is required. These items can be acquired from various sources, including chests, rewards from the Monster Army, and Reward Boxes.
In addition to this, Shifted Monster will begin appearing in any regular encounters throughout the game after finishing the events at the Sun Palace. Achieving a 5-star rating guarantees the player getting the Shifted Monster. If the Shifted Monster is an evolved form, it will drop a Shifted egg of the unevolved Monster. There is a 25% chance for Monster encounters to spawn any one of the Monsters as shifted to either Light or Dark. After encountering a Shifted Monster, the next Shifted Monster will be of the opposite Shift.
Eggs obtained Reward Boxes also have a 50% chance of being Shifted once unlocked. Shifted Monster eggs are considerably easier to obtain than Shift Stones, so it is advisable to save your Shift Stones for Spectral Familiars, Champion Monsters, other rare Monsters, or for Monsters to which you have grown attached.
Shifting Benefits[]
In terms of gameplay, there are little to no drawbacks when it comes to Shifting. The only limitation is that a Shifted Monster cannot equip a Gray Pearl or Grey Stone; however, in most cases, Shifting serves as an upgrade to their neutral form. Shifting provides certain stat boosts along with a Shift passive ability. Two distinct types of Shift passives exist: Light Shift passives, exclusively available to Light-shifted Monsters, and Dark Shift passives, reserved for Dark-shifted Monsters.
The same Monster species will always have the same stat boosts and Shift passives. Evolved Monsters also share the same Shift passives as their unevolved counterparts, e.g. both Grummy and G'rulu have Curse Resistance and Debuff Mastery as their Shift passives.
Light Passives[]
