Shockhopper was the winning entry of the 5th Design Contest, designed by 'Evie'.
Bio[]
Shockhoppers used to make their homes on remote icy islands. Never having had contact with humans, they were very friendly to visitors. Their feathers were short and coursed with static electricity at all times, giving anyone quite the shock when they tried to pet the fuzzy little penguins. They could use their electricity to propel themselves into the air to leap from rock to rock, aiding in evading predators.
History[]
In 62 AC, Shockhoppers were first discovered by Old World explorers. At this point in time, the Old World was beginning to grasp the possibility of using electricity as a source of energy. Since Shockhoppers quickly became known for their ability to generate electricity, many experiments were conducted with Shockhoppers. Nearly every experiment ended with the Shockhoppers being completely converted into electricity, ending up as only a short-lived source of energy. Those experiments were soon outlawed, but poachers continued supplying illicit laboratories with Shockhopper eggs. Eventually, the population of Shockhoppers was damaged beyond the point of recovery and they vanished from the world. The tragedy that befell the Shockhoppers is counted among one of the Old World's biggest crimes.
Acquisition[]
Shockhopper cannot be encountered in the wild. Shockhopper eggs can be obtained from Lady Statis in the Snowy Peaks by giving her a Dodo egg. Click here for more details!
In Snowy Peaks, there is a small alcove where you can encounter Lady Stasis, a cryomancer interested in studying extinct species. She discovered that the Dodo is related to the extinct Shockhopper. By giving her a Dodo egg, she can create a Shockhopper egg in its place. The converted egg will carry over the Shift form of the original egg, and the transaction can be repeated multiple times.

Trivia[]
- Based on a feedback survey back in May 2021, Shockhopper was one of the Top 20 community's favorite Monster, it being in the 9th place.
- Shockhopper's design is based on the rockhopper penguin, a type of penguin that cannot slide on its bellies like most penguins due to harsh rocky environment but instead hop to get from one place to another.
- Shockhopper's name is a portmanteau of the words shock and rockhopper.
