The Spectral Wolf is one of the possible Spectral Familiars that the player can choose when beginning the game, and appears to be the intended spectral familiar for the player to choose (due to it being the only one that is not fully predetermined as to which keeper it goes to, only being possessed by the other spectral keepers provided they choose that characters intended familiar)

Bio[edit | edit source]

In tales from the Old World, the Spectral Wolf is described as the most cunning of the Familiars and he was said to be the guardian patron of the snowy mountains and dark forests. As with all the other Spectral Familiars, Wolf was revered and respected too, but his relation to the people of the Old World seems more complicated. The dark forests of the Wolf were feared and avoided, but at the same time, the shamans called on the power of the Wolf to protect the newborns from warlocks and other dark influences.

History[edit | edit source]

Since the creation of the Monster Sanctuary in 0 AC, the Spectral Wolf has been the Spectral Familiar of the Veles bloodline. In modern Sanctuary folklore, the Spectral Wolf is said to be a friend to strangers and those who prefer the company of beasts to the company of men - who would rather stay in the wilds than in the warm halls of the Keeper's Stronghold. Keepers of the Spectral Wolf aren't seen as particularly warm people, but they are respected for their keen judgment. Thanks to their perceptive and logical nature, they are often called upon to decide on matters of dispute among residents of the Monster Sanctuary.

The spectral wolf is one of the more offensive starters. His skills are all about damage, but they have a strong focus on crit damage.

Unlike the spectral lion, who only wants to crit, the spectral wolf wants to kill with a crit. Most of his skills are handmade to do massive critical damage, to increase his chance to critically hit the enemy or to get a bonus for his criticals.

His main strengths are criticals, but the spectral wolf has also the power to give his enemies bleed and chill. Even if the enemy should survive the first impact, they will probably die by the bleed damage. The wolf also gets bonuses from the ageing skill, like other starters, which makes him especially strong in the latter parts of a battle.

If you take this starter, you don't need another damage dealer. Focus on monsters who can tank hits and heal as well as monsters who debuff the enemies defense, so your spectral wolf can slay them all.

A good build is the wolf focusing on his critical damage, with two other alternative options being Yowie, with its congeal and a healer/tanker, and Frosty, with its shields and Buffing(Full Offense). These three can stack chill, deal damage every turn due to congeal, and wolf has more crit due to chill stacks with its Shatter skill.
