Bio[]

Ucans are giant hostile crab-like Monsters that posses a few peculiar traits. Their thick, unruly fur mainly serves the purposes of heat insulation and protection against the elements, allowing them to adapt to all types of different environments. Their ancient fossils can be found all across the world, including the snowy arctic and the vast blazing deserts. Their exoskeletons are extremely tough, but they don't grow with their wearers - meaning a Ucan has to shed its exoskeleton several times in its life and grow a new one each time.

History[]

It is believed that Ucans were bio-engineered millions of years ago by the otherworldly Elderjels - as is written in the ancient tome of demons, Ahrimaaya. They served as workers and gatherers, sent out to all corners of the Earth to collect rare minerals that the Elderjels required. The Ucans thus laid the foundation of the mighty ancient Elderjel empire. However, when the Ucans were ordered to attack their fellow ocean Monsters, they were the first of the Elderjels' minions to rebel against their masters. Despite eons of servitude, they remained true to their original nature and so it is known that Ucans owe their allegiance only to the ocean itself.

Trivia[]

  • Ucan is one of the few Monsters that does not appear in any Keeper Duels. The other Monsters are Goblin King, Ninki, Tanuki, Mimic, Goblin Pilot, Mad Lord, Krakaturtle and Dracomer.
  • Ucan's History is reminiscent of the Shoggoths, as both were created by extraterrestrial beings (the Elderjels and Elder Things, respectively) to perform labor but later rebelled against their masters.
    • This coincides with Elderjel being inspired by the Elder Thing.
  • Ucan's name and design are based on the fiddler crab (scientific name is Uca), a crustacean most well known for their sexually dimorphic claws in which the males' major claw is much larger than the minor claw.
    • Its furry appearance may be based on the yeti crab.
